These two Westies thought it would be fun to take the cat with them on a road trip. The cat wasn’t so sure about it…
I ran into some floral papers I’ve had for about 8 years and decided to do something with them. Some of my FB friends have been posting beautifully decorated VW’s to my wall lately, and in doing so, they inspired me to make this series. =)
They’re all available in my Etsy shop! I’ll be working on some side buses as well as bugs soon.
I wanted to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas! I hope your Christmas trees fared better than ours-nothing too drastic, the tree is still standing. But we’re missing quite a lot of ornaments and some limbs need the metal bent back upwards again. =P Enjoy the day!
Last night my daughter told me that she put her Barbie VW on the floor so the kittens could play with it. Turns out, they like it, a lot. My favorite thing about this is how apropos the WWF sticker on the bumper is!
Ok, so I had to get this out of my head too. This was my original plan some time ago, before the Volvo. Seeing as I don’t have my beetle anymore and I don’t know anyone in town who’d be willing to let two cats in their car, I resorted to my nifty toy. Oh, and toy cats as well. =P These are obviously in my head as I need to paint more since they’re selling out.
This one I shot on my desk with a different, decorated tree. It was late at night and I needed a break from making ornaments. Really not a fan of light that isn’t natural.
I didn’t realize it until this morning when the coffee kicked in, but yesterday I took a break from making VW Christmas ornaments so I could paint a couple paintings. Yesterday’s theme was apparently modes of transportation. With 24 clay ornaments to finish, I grabbed a couple canvases and drew out a cat on a bicycle and a couple cats in a bug.
I love fat cats on bicycles and with autumn upon us, this kitty definitely needed a scarf to cut the chill of the wind!
I really couldn’t tell you which number this painting is in the Cats’ Road Trip series. I’ve painted about 300 of them, but never one with a plain background. I started painting the VW first and liked how it looked against the wood grain, so I left it. =) I think I’ll have to do a few more like this!
Carbon Copy cat agreed to be my model today, next to the painting.
One of my favorite things to paint is my Cats’ Road Trip series of cats driving around in cars, mostly VW’s. I’ve been painting this series for 8 years and still think there are more color combinations yet to paint!

I also collect Volkswagen model cars, or to-scale cars. I don’t have a huge collection, maybe about 15 cars and buses so far. They come in handy when I want to do a little photo shoot with my son’s Star Wars toys. =P
