Cat Pattern Madness

Last week I decided I wanted to make some patterns for my RedBubble shop items. Never having made patterns before, I wasn’t really sure how to start, so I just dove right in. I wrote down a bunch of ideas, my daughter did as well, and I just started painting. I think the hardest part is sorting the actual pattern in Photoshop, but with enough tries, it’s starting to feel easier. Below are all the patterns, and a sample, that I’ve made thus far. =)

Backyard Friends & Spring

Goldilocks and Puddy, hanging out on the not-so-swinging bench. Pretty sure Puddy cat was judging the height of the fence, and Goldilocks was judging Puddy.

Kind of Spring

This morning started out grey, wet, and muddy. I figured that was the plan for today…or just the plan for the dog. Β Then all of a sudden, SUN! The chickens were happy, and even though we don’ t have any flowers growing yet, Anna grabbed one of the silk hydrangea stems from my room and we went outside.

Anna with Goldielocks, the chicken who has 9 lives. Seriously, she survived being attacked by something in the night, almost losing a toe or two, but we nursed her back to health in the basement. Then rejected by the ducks and chickens, she somehow got a crook in her neck. She now has her own coop and boks her days away, eating and laying eggs. =)

Wildflowers

Pretty in Pink

Taking our normal walk along the river, Anna was thrilled with all the wildflowers in bloom. It smelled so beautiful along the pathway, like a mixture of honey and vanilla. Although we have a “no flowers, period” rule in the house, that doesn’t mean we can’t have jars of flowers for the outside. Anna picked a pickle jar for that day’s bouquet. =)

Portrait with Flowers

This month’s photography theme at Froknowsphoto.com is “flowers” so the first thing that popped into my head was recreating Anna as Frida in the Vogue shot. With a little bit of makeup and some sunshine, I’m happy with how they turned out.
