Going to Amma’s and Taking the Cat

Going to Amma's

Once upon a time, when I was maybe 8, I ran away from home with my older brother. We were being rather bad and tossing notes over the fence of a school across the street. When we were busted and knew they’d called our parents, we came up with the brilliant plan of running away. Where would we go? No clue, we’d just walk! I put on my best dress, fishnet tights, and my Strawberry Shortcake doll. Somehow we ended up on a military base of some sort in Newhall, Ca (I think it was Newhall) and at a guard’s insistence, my brother caved and gave our phone number to him so they could call our parents. I was disappointed.

This quick little shoot wasn’t depicting a child running away, but as I was dressing Anna, my Mom brought it up. Instead of Strawberry Shortcake, Anna was taking the cat…but not running away, just going to her Amma’s house. =P

She Was A Crow

I had an idea for which I needed some wings. After exhausting my search online, reading reviews of wings with feathers falling off immediately after opening the package, I figured, “I could make wings…how hard could it be?” So Anna and I made some last night. Β Anna said she wanted to be a crow for Halloween after we made the wings, so my original idea morphed into making her a crow. She said she’d like a beak for Halloween-I’m sure we can make one of those too. =P

Oh, and it’s snowing! We’re supposed to get 6-10 inches, so we’ll see. It started out very slowly this morning but it’s picking up now and starting to stick. I’d like to get this other idea out of my head and photographed soon, so I’d appreciate a lot of snow!

Happy Thanksgiving

To all of you who celebrate it! We’re eating some chicken breasts stuff with mozzarella and possibly topped with bacon, some sweet potato mashed…potatoes, probably stuffing, buttered and garlic’d asparagus, and some New York pumpkin cheesecake.

But this morning I had to get this little idea out of my head, so we went out again and brought along a horse. One day we’ll make friends with someone around here who has real horses, but for today Anna’s Butterscotch did the trick. We waited for the sun to come up over the mountains and over the trees, then we went to Grandmother’s…ok not really, but we did wait for the sun. The hunters were out in full force this morning, guns-a-blazing, and dogs howling. Needless to say, as the gunshots got louder and more frequent, we wrapped up the shoot and got the hell out of there!
